What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We will obtain personal data about you (such as your name, address, various health and lifestyle details including recent injuries) whenever you complete a form (whether in person or online).
For example, we will obtain your personal data when you register to use this website, send us feedback, post material, contact us for any reason, sign up to a service, enter a competition, purchase goods or services. We may also obtain sensitive personal data about you if you volunteer it during the completion of an online form. If you volunteer such information, you will be consenting to our processing it for the purpose of providing services, marketing our services (current or future) and assisting with subject access requests.
Special Categories of Personal Data
There may be instances in which the personal data that you provide to us or we collect is considered to be special categories of personal data under data protection law. Special categories of personal data can include racial or ethnic origin; genetic data; biometric data for the purpose of identifying an individual; data concerning health or data concerning your sex life or sexual orientation.
Please note that we require certain personal data (including special categories of personal data which relates to your health status) in order to be able to provide you with services and for health and safety reasons. We collect personal data directly from you when you complete our forms, we contact you or you contact us, whether submitted on the website, electronically or in person.
How we use your personal data
We process personal data concerning members and those on our mailing list for a number of reasons which relate to providing our gym services to that member. These reasons include:
- communicating with you, including to send marketing to you in respect of products, services and offers, which we feel will be of interest to you (unless you have opted out of receiving such marketing communications);
- maintaining and improving the website; and
- complying with applicable laws (laws governing health and safety and having in place appropriate insurance for our business activities).
The legal basis on which we rely for processing your data for these purposes is that the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party; complying with our legal obligations; and in order to fulfil our legitimate interests of providing you with an excellent standard of service, which includes providing you with information about products, services and offers that we feel will be of interest to you.
Where we send marketing communications by electronic means (such as phone, SMS or email) we will obtain your consent. Where you have provided consent, please note that you may withdraw it at any time. This shall not affect the lawfulness of any processing that was based on your consent before you withdrew it.
Marketing and opting out
We will only contact you by email, phone, SMS about our products, services and promotions if you have asked us to do so. If you have changed your mind and would prefer us not to contact you, then you can opt out at any time. See further What rights you have over your data below.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
- Analyse our web traffic using an analytics package. Aggregated usage data helps us improve the website structure, design, content and functions.

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
When someone visits lrptfitness.com we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.
How we protect your data
The personal data we collect from you is stored by us and/or our service providers on databases protected through a combination of physical and electronic access controls, firewall technology and other reasonable security measures. Nevertheless, such security measures cannot prevent all loss, misuses or alteration of personal data and we are not responsible for any damages or liabilities relating to any such incidents which are outside our control. Where required under law, we will notify you of any such loss, misuse or alteration of personal data that may affect you, so that you can take the appropriate actions for the due protection of your rights.
